Watch them in the water and the otters appear to be encased in a silver sheen. This is in fact a film of air bubbles that clings to the longer outer hairs covering their bodies.

Like people, animals are more active during certain periods of the day than others. During the hotter summer months our animals are most active early in the day, so visiting the Zoo in the morning may mean you'll see greater activity compared with afternoon hours.
Also make sure you have the latest times and information on keeper presentations and feedings, as these vary according to the seasons. If you want to see the animals up close, you might also want to book an Animal Encounter where you go behind the scenes to meet some of the zoo's most spectacular animals.
