Exhibition of ZOO AiR at University Gallery Newcastle
Artworks produced during the Taronga 2010 artists in residence are on display at the University Gallery, Newcastle until Saturday 12 June 2010.
The exhbition was launched on Friday 28 May and the gallery was packed with artists, artlovers and zoo supporters checking out almost 90 works produced by the 20 participating artists. Guests included the Lord Mayor of Newcastle who opened the exhibtion, Zoo Director Cameron Kerr and participating artists Elisabeth Cummings, Tamara Dean, Michael Fitzjames, Chris Langlois, Rodney Pople, Leo Robba, Michael Snape and John Turier. The Friday evening launch was followed on Saturday afternoon with an artists’ talk given by Leo Robba and local sculptor John Turier, whose delightful 'Berani' (male Tapir) was a hit despite being a work in progress.
