Where does a seal go when it's found washed up on a beach? Where would you send a lion for root canal therapy?

Join us to find out in this incredible peek into the workings of our world-class wildlife veterinary hospital. Taronga was the first zoo in Australia to have a purpose built veterinary facility, and the first to employ a full time vet. Our staff regularly treat sick and injured wildlife brought to us by they public. However there is so much more that goes on behind the scenes than you can ever imagine!

Your Taronga Zoo guide will meet you at the Information Centre and take you back of house where the Wildlife Hospital is just the first stop on this unique behind-the-scenes tour. You'll discover how we register our patient details, before visiting our onsite pathology lab and treatment rooms.

If you've ever wondered how we treat a chimp with the flu, or where we prepare meals for our patients, you're sure to find out on this tour. You'll also find out why and how we quarantine animals before admitting them to the zoo, and where rehabilitation for sick and injured wildlife takes place.

** Due to animal treatment and rehabilitation requirements we cannot guarantee all parts of the hospital tour as described will be available on every tour.
