Litoria aurea

Typically Australian in colour, the Green-and-golden Bell Frog is a true athlete that can swim and climb very well. The male has a distinctive call that sounds like a motorcycle changing gears. They mostly feed on insects and other invertebrates, but will also eat smaller frogs. Taronga Zoo has been actively involved in the conservation of this endangered species by breeding and releasing thousands of tadpoles and frogs. This project sparked the beginning of an Australia wide frog conservation program, ASX Frog Focus.
