Tiliqua scincoids
The Eastern Blue-tongue
Lizard is a gentle, slow moving lizard that uses a large blue tongue to ‘taste'
its surroundings. These lizards eat a variety of plants and animals and when
found living in your backyard, indicate a healthy garden habitat.
Taronga cares for many sick
and injured local Eastern Blue-tongue Lizards, rehabilitating them and
releasing them back to the wild.
Taronga is home to a number
of Eastern Blue-tongue Lizards and visitors can have a close encounter with
them during our regular animal encounters.
